She sat next to him on the couch, her hands placed delicately on her knees. He was sprawled out, his arm flung over her shoulder.
Condensation formed on the outside of his beer bottle. She watched it trickle down the glass, toward his fingers. She knew she should wipe away the water before it reached his hand, but she couldn’t get her legs to move. Sucking in a breath, she tried to focus on the television.
She ran her thumb over the faded red spot on her wrist. The burn had already started to heal, just like he said it would.
