Corona Dream

Corona Dream

By Yash Seyedbagheri

The crowned lady taunts. She makes me touch my nose and mouth, as if they’re condemned. I thrash in the still of night. The fan thwacks like an executioner’s axe. Thwack, thwack.

I always wake up. It’s a dream. It isn’t. The crowned lady marches through cities, into hills and valleys. I joke about toilet paper hoarders, mock people who react, but don’t act.

But I imagine gasping, fever. Crying to a consumed world. I imagine slipping into slumber. I sterilize, withdraw into ’80s teen movies with neat endings. I tell myself I’m absorbed by ifs.

No fact begins with if.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
