For the past few weeks my friend Debbie and I have gone dancing on Friday nights. We aren’t involved romantically. We’re just friends.
Friday night another guy sidled up to her. You know the type, perfect hair, pressed jeans. Slick. Before he could get too close she smiled and closed her eyes, as though enjoying a high note in the song. She reached out to touch my hand. The other guy went away.
Debbie did a couple more turns as the music swelled. Then she leaned in and said, “Thank you.” It was at that moment I read the tea leaves.
Lovely!
Lovely story.
…she leaned and said, “Thank you.”
I love this part. It’s lovely.
I like the picture you painted
