10:55 PM: “People freeze credit cards. I’m not the first.”
Debt permeates her pores—for fourteen years, daydreams, brainstorms, even party conversations: always in the Red. “This is grave, but I’ve got the solution.”
Five minutes later: putting the ONYX card in a large bowl. Bowl in sink. Water in bowl. “Beautiful marble bowl, artisanal copper sink,” she sighs luxuriously, “all with that card.”
The chrome freezer accepts her liquid liability: absolution.
3:00 AM: when Yahoo Answers predicted solidification. She crashes awake with that sixteen-digit number and expiry date tattooing itself onto her brain.
“Might I take this to my…grave!?”
A very good slice-of-life vision of today’s credit-card-driven society! Great job!
mm mm! a delicious story of frozen assets, of people and things and the vehicle of their troubled relationship. Use of language is sublime! A truly memorable story Lucie Prontoe!
LOL Great job
