He was tall and blond, with sparkling green eyes and a sprinkling of freckles across his perfect nose. He was my first love, and the boy I still dreamed of. Anticipation pulsed through me like an electric current as I stepped into the reunion venue.
To prepare for the event, I had gotten Botox injections, bought a designer dress I couldn’t afford, and dyed my hair chestnut-brown, the way it used to be. I was ready.
And then there he was, bald with dead eyes and an enormous belly. I passed him by without saying hello. I wished I hadn’t come.
Loved it. So authentic. The reason l tend to skip reunions?
That’s what aging can do. Great story!
At least there are still dreams.
They suspend the passage of time.
Something everyone has experienced at some point.
Wonderful!
That would have disappointed me. I guess looks can’t always give you love. Good story. Almost laughed.
