Barbie reminds her co-workers, “It was a toxic relationship. I’m 100 percent done.” They nod and continue to stock the shelves.
A shopper, standing nearby, approaches. “Maybe you can help me…”
Barbie recommends the woman change her routines, and her phone number. She should move on, learn from Barbie’s experience. Her shopper looks confused, then states she wants scour pads to clean a badly burnt roaster.
Although flustered, Barbie directs her to the right aisle. “Been badly burnt myself. You know what I mean.”
Without even a thank you, the shopper continues her shopping. Barbie returns to her work, completely silenced.
A young woman who goes through life invisible, desperately trying to evoke some kind of interest or reaction from her environment, just to be seen. A sad and lonely piece.
Thank you for your comments.
Walking away from a toxic relationship is a great accomplishment.
