Jonathan jumped back as his toast cried out in pain.
“Why are you eating me?” the toast said.
“I’m going to work,” Jonathan replied, frowning. “You’re my breakfast.”
“But if you eat me, I’ll suffer,” the toast said.
“But if I don’t, I’ll suffer,” Jonathan said.
“I guess we’re in a predicament then.”
“Very well, tell me about yourself.”
“Well, I don’t remember much before becoming toast. The toaster was agonizing, but other than that I was just a humble piece of—”
Yawning loudly, Jonathan bit into the slice, then checked his watch and licked the crumbs irritably off his fingers.
Loved this! Thought the toast would get a reprieve, great twist. Well done!
This was a fun piece, going to do the same thing tomorrow morning. Well done!
