My life changed when the doughnut shop next door closed. For the first time in my adult life, I couldn’t blame obesity on the accessibility of frosted pastries.
There was nothing to do but lose weight. I couldn’t help it. I walked. Then I jogged. Then I ran. Then I ran a 10k.
The pounds melted off like so much warm buttercream. My mother was thrilled. Then my girlfriend. Then my wife.
When my wife got pregnant, we moved to a little neighbourhood.
We had just added our name on the mailbox when we met our next-door neighbour, a Girl Scout.
Sorry but am I missing something – what’s it all about?
He’s going to start buying girl scout cookies and get fat again.
Cute story. Idea for the follow-up story: Will he be tempted by thin mints or Samoas after all of this time and training? Will he be enticed into buying and eating the cookies by the industrious little girl who wants to win the sales contest? I liked the story so much, I feel like writing the follow-up. I’m sure plenty of us have bought Girl Scout cookies for all kinds of reasons.
Hey, a follow up story would be great! (be sure to share somehow when done. 😉 ) Well, I see this character as mostly a man of convenience, but I don’t see him falling back into sweets right away. I think it’ll be more like, he wants to help his neighbor reach her selling goals, it’s just one box here or there. Then I think he’ll fall a little more into the habit over time. I see him really enjoying the Samoas and Tagalongs. 😀 Thanks for commenting you made my day!
I love how the pounds melted off like buttercream. And mention of a girlfriend. Great flash!
Thank you! 😀
Very well done ,,, so much punch in so little space ~!~
Thank you!
Love it! Last line made me chuckle.
Thanks jess!
Looking forward to follow-up stories. An an ex-overweight glutton, the story spoke to me! Really and truly.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Sorry, but being British I know nothing about girl scout cookies. Thanks for the information anyway.
Thanks for reading and commenting! It’s funny how we take certain ideas for granted. It just shows the cultural differences between readers. Thanks again!
Such a cute, fun, fattening story!
Haha thanks!
Totally loved this story! I hope he does refrain from the temptation.
ha! thank you! i’m not sure he will in the end. this guy is a man of convenience and opportunity in terms of sugary snacks.
