Lucy looked down. From so high up, houses appeared as autumn leaves that covered the earth. Around them were green leaves from trees, and roads shined like bare stems from plants on a frosty morning.
Lucy looked down a second time. The ground below was ablaze with lights, like glitter scattered as far as the eye could see. Roads twisted like blue veins from her grandma’s hand.
Lucy looked down for the last time. She braced for impact, then screamed and clung to her bedroom window pane. Shaken and in tears, she remembered her father’s words.
