I collapse on my bed after a long day at work, not even bothering to change. The urge to sleep overwhelming me, I slip out of consciousness.
There she is. She smiles, all red lips and white teeth. Her auburn hair falls across her shoulders. Gentle green eyes staring into my own.
Together, we walk down the beach, hand in hand. Our feet pressing into the warm sand, we talk about our future together. I caress her hand, the newly placed ring beneath my thumb.
I wake up. The world is cold. I get up and get dressed for the funeral.
It’s the title you chose that really makes this piece work so well! Very nice!
wow, shocking ending! strong story, but very sad.
Oh! That was so sad. Beautifully crafted.
Very sentimental. Carries lot meaning. What you loved came in your dream. What you seek in funeral is questionable.
Wonderful use of imagery and sensation to make a poignant contrast. Highly effective use of action to convey powerful emotion.
Beautiful and sad.
