The man in the boat heard the airplane before he saw it swooping down toward him. Yrroomm! It dipped and banked, dangerously close to the boat. It climbed, arced, and swooped again. Yrroomm!
The man could only watch, helpless against the mad pilot.
Psshh! The red twin-engine careened into the water, creating a wave that upended the boat and sent the man afloat, face down, bobbing away from his craft.
As if guided by the hand of God, the plane rose from the sea and climbed, its wake dousing a nearby duck.
“Okay, Aiden, time to get out of the tub.”
Totally loved it!
Thanks! This was inspired by my son, who made any tub toy—boat, duck, whatever—into an airplane for yroooom.
Wonderful ending!
Great surprise ending.
This is very enjoyable and takes me back a long way!
Thanks everyone. It’s a long way back for me too. My son just turned 29!
Just loved it and the final line is brilliant!
What a blast! I didn’t catch on…until the end, lol.
I could feel the tension build up right from the first line. The ending was just super! Well done.
