There are only two reasons politicians visited these parts: campaigns and calamities. We have both.
Years ago, our infrastructure was deemed unimportant to fix. Then trains carrying contaminants exploded, seeping toxins into the rivers and our bones.
Now I’m serving desserts to the elites in attendance. They’ve forgotten, but I haven’t.
The president is posturing at his podium. Taking what seems like a reassuring gulp of the tea made from our “perfectly fine” water. What’s less reassuring was watching his staff secretly replace the kettle with an identical one before the photo op.
Unfortunately for him, I switched out the sugar.
Very interesting piece I loved it. Well done!
A great story in 101 words.
A fine piece. Kudos.
Hello Kari,
Well done. Interestingly, while the politician was eliminated, the ongoing ecological disaster remained unaddressed.
Revenge is sweet. Nice one ~ good title, good story!
Brilliant. Politicians beware, ignore the little people at your peril.
I love this. Could have been something in a Chuck Palahniuk book! Sometimes doing the right thing requires doing the wrong thing.
Excellent story!
Just desserts!
