Cheetah snorted.
“It’s true,” Mongoose replied.
“Prove it,” Cheetah challenged.
Mongoose sped into the night and returned with a bright red candy wrapped in shiny plastic. “It’s just like the places we’ve heard of!”
“Is it as bright as the sun inside? Are there clear barriers? Are there…people?”
Mongoose nodded, licking his lips. “You should come.”
Cheetah glanced over her shoulder into the sun. “If They have a store now…They will soon get cars. They will soon want to expand.
I should go.”
“You coming back?”
Cheetah blinked. “If They change. Adieu.”
“What does that mean?”
“Goodbye, but…forever.”
