Enjoy the Moment

Enjoy the Moment

By Lisa M. Scuderi-Burkimsher

Helen peered out the open window. The sweet scent of jasmine reminded her of the garden she used to once tend with her mother, before things fell apart. She found her mother down the block in the middle of the night searching for her childhood home, with a confused look in her eyes.

After that she had to be placed in a nursing facility. Helen now lived in that same nursing home.

Her daughter Vanessa’s voice broke through the memories.

“Mom, let’s go for a walk.”

She smiled and studied Vanessa.

How long would it be until Alzheimer’s removed that image?

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
