George is a liar. He knows how to cover things up and is a master at cheating.
He is also unapologetically opinionated, intentionally modeling an intellectual transparency, while never concealing his true feelings on an issue.
His lies grow out of the desire for profit, revenge, glory, fame, or fortune.
It might simply be to create the illusion of being important.
Whatever the reason for lying, his end product is calculated gain.
George is becoming a greedy man, lacking emotional security, whilst favoring economic superiority.
Like a drug addict, George must have a shot in the arm. He simply must lie.
At first I thought this one had to much telling and not enough showing; then I reread it and came to the conclusion this was the best way to tell it. Nice.
I was sort of confused and had to re-read it a couple of times. I liked a lot of the wording but was totally thrown off by “never concealing his true feelings on an issue” because everything else read as if George never really divulged his true feelings, only said stuff he thought would sound intellectual or lied just to lie. I loved the rest of that sentence though… all that came before that… because I have known (and still know) several men who fall into that category. The description was quite apt. 🙂
