An hour until his flight. An exotic vacation. Escaping one life to live another, and then to return. His life’s big dream.
Waiting, he lost himself in a book. He became the world of words and pages, and was the protagonist who had fallen and lost consciousness. He imagined he was in a movie, at a costume party with friends and had just shared a smoke. They talked of dreams and of places they had only heard about in stories.
The plane closed doors and pulled onto the runway; he awoke.
He cashed in his ticket. Maybe he’d try again tomorrow.
A good way of saying dreams are dreams and reality is reality. Liked this one.
I’m not so sure I’d have boiled it all the way down to 12 words, but I’m glad you liked it. Thanks!
There is no escape? I wanted to know what book was being read or maybe what type of book. Nice work!
