Everything Is Blue

Everything Is Blue

By Jessica Knight

Bubbles twirl their way to the surface, dancing on the currents. Dark waters are tinted blue by the moon’s haze.

Allowing her fins to grace the surface, a mermaid shudders as the cold night claws at her scales. Swiftly, she dives back into the safety of the abyss.

Streams of brightly coloured fish whisk past her; shades of cobalt, apricots, and russets surround her as she glides between the reefs.

Searching diligently, she smiles when she sees an oyster.

Gleefully, she swims down, securing her prize that is hidden amongst broken shells.

Mermaids know that the real treasure lies just inside.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Absolutely beautiful. I can almost see the ‘Streams of brightly coloured fish whisk past her; shades of cobalt, apricots, and russets surround her as she glides between the reefs.’
