My Evil Corporate Empire

July 23, 2015 2 Comments

Evil Empire

Today I am excited to announce that Flash Fiction Magazine is now a part of the evil corporate empire that is 101 Words. It’s our first corporate takeover!

Okay, so we aren’t an evil empire, nor are we a corporation looking to destroy your dreams and sanitize the world of all things diverse. We are actually more interested in making your dreams come true!

The truth is, the previous owners had to let the site go for personal reasons. I stepped in and took the site over. Les has taken over editing duties with the assistance of Grace Black. I couldn’t be more grateful to have them on my side!

Many of the authors from 101 Words have requested that we publish longer pieces. FFM publishes longer pieces ranging from 300–1000 words. I believe this longer format will be the perfect compliment to 101 Words.

I have some exciting plans for both sites in 2016. Until then, we are going to continue to publish the best stories you give us.

If you are not signed up to get stories from Flash Fiction Magazine, I encourage you to do that now. FFM currently publishes one story a day, seven days a week.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Well, well. It’s not exactly My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but it’ll do. Congratulations to you, you Robber Barons of Flash Fiction. May it continue to go well.
