The minutes tick by slowly at Shady Acres. Breakfast at 7 a.m. sharp, lunch at high noon, the evening meal promptly at 5. Bingo is Wednesdays at 2 p.m.
Bob likes punctuality. When he ran a Fortune 500 company, he demanded nothing less from his employees.
Now, five minutes after ringing his call button, the aide finally arrived.
He looked up as she entered the room.
“You’re fired,” Bob said quietly.
“You called me all the way down here to tell me that?” she asked, shaking her head.
“Yes, and no,” he said. “I also need to go to the bathroom.”
Nice use of register from thriller novels. Point about the ultimate frailty of all human beings and a great bit of political satire slipped in. Realy enjoyable read and genuinely funny.

I’m living this story out in a nursing home in upstate NY.
Nailed it. Great, somewhat, poignant read.
