Exhibit

By Bobby Warner

The sign said ‘Rail Man Exhibits’ in bold letters. Its painting of a young man bound to a cross of fence rails caught Gregg’s attention and he decided to stop. He needed a leak anyway.

The middle-aged man inside, sanding a length of timber, saw his distress and point to a door. Gregg rushed inside.

Coming out of the toilet, Gregg got a crack on the head. When he awakened, he was bound to a cross made of two timbers. The older man grinned at him. “Five days in the curing room, then you go on exhibit. Thanks for stopping by!”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Yikes. Who knew taking a leak could be so dangerous. As always, nicely done, Bobby.

I agree with Mike – definitely shades of Edgar Allen Poe. But I still have to say……well done………
