The Ampera pulled up and reversed into a parking spot, shuddering Jack out of his doze. Therese opened the passenger door.
“Out you come.”
He raised an eyebrow, showing no inclination to move further.
“Your snoring’s distracting,” she explained.
He grunted. He could see how his sleeping might lull the driver into a state where she might have an accident. He got out and looked around.
“What the…” The building’s façade was like a dump for rusty air-conditioning chutes and old smoke-stacks.
“You wanted to see the sights.”
He looked askance at her. “Inspiring sights, not where the Portland Building vomits.”
Good story, made better by that unique phrase: “…shuddering Jack out of his doze.”
