Falling

Falling

By Angie Dent

Callum tiptoed towards the edge. Clammy palms clutching the rusty railing, he peered cautiously down into the murky water. Unrecognisable objects were torn apart in the angry rapids. He would fare no better.

He teetered on the edge, heart thumping. The relentless drudgery of empty days and sleepless nights would soon end. With relief, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath…

and jumped.

Just before he struck the water, he shot upwards bullet-like, feet first, as if the heavens were yanking him back from death.

Climbing back onto the bungee platform, he laughed in exhilaration, feeling more alive than ever.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Really love this! Wasn’t the ending I expected. Made me think of the phrase “bouncing back from rock bottom”. Very clever writing! Xx
