It was a big fly with bright wings. Like the one that flew around my left ear years ago, making a strange sound. I had struck at it frantically as it entered the ear, stung, and flew away.
Now, it landed on the bread I was about to eat. Angry, I folded the newspaper lying nearby and lifted my hand, about to strike.
Then I stopped. Did the ‘crime’ deserve the death penalty?
I tore off the piece of bread where it had sat and set it a little away.
It started eating like a starved child, ignoring the staring eyes.
An admirable approach (though I might have set the piece of bread outside while I was at it).
Me too!
A real predicament for most of us!!! Glad the way it was resolved!
I found your story thought provoking in so few words. I really like it.
I liked the image of the starved child!
Thanks to all for your kind words.
