First Date

By Dante Murray

“I’m going to bet you’re the kind of girl who never drank Jack Daniel’s and ran naked around a pool trying to raise Jim Morrison from the dead.”

“I’m going to bet you’ve never screwed a girl on the first date in the front seat of her blue 2015 VW Beetle in an empty Piggly Wiggly lot.”

His worries about them mutually falling in love were put to rest after he stepped out of her blue 2015 VW Beetle to pull up his pants and she drove away with a wave of her hand with her CD blasting out ‘LA Women.’

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I’m betting this guy experienced a once-in-a-lifetime event–and will never know its likes again! Good job, Dante.

I’m going to bet that you were shaking so bad you couldn’t pull up the zipper AND that you still do a double take at every Blue Bug that goes by
