Flash Fiction chosen by Jim Landwehr
“Caw” by Jan Stinchcomb via Cease, Cows
This is a quirky piece pairing a woman up with a Crow. I enjoyed the interplay between a migratory and eventually one-legged bird and a woman in love. A fun read!
“The Run” by Anna Jordan via Flash Fiction Magazine
Running for some is a cathartic way to work things out. This story does just that for the runner, working things out between her and her sister. A glorious ending finishes it out.
“The Box She Would Fit Into” by Michael Overa via Five 2 One Magazine
I love the progression in this story. It reminded me in some ways of Stephen King’s book, Thinner.
“Invited” by Rebecca Hannigan via Maudlin House
A great depiction of those awkward moments in young love that sometimes happen at parties. The subject works out the details in her mind and then finishes with a suitably vengeful ending.
