Lenny is feeding the birds under a sign that says in giant red letters, DON’T FEED THE BIRDS UNDER PENALTY OF LAW.
I point at the sign and Lenny says, “What right has the landlord to decide who gets fed and who goes hungry?” Lenny always has a point, but it’s never the right point.
“Maybe he doesn’t want bird shit all over his steps,” I say.
“You taking his side? It’s us or them,” he mutters darkly.
Two pigeons glare at me. More birds are flying in; the sky fills with them, their crying, screeching, and flapping. We are outnumbered.
Bird karma, love it!
Thanks, Helen. I love the birds, those survivors!
The idea of rule breaking was very good.
Oh, I think someone will be bombed. Never anger a pigeon.
