Leading a cult is like looking after a brood of rescued foster children; damaged by life and desperately seeking acceptance, they will do practically anything for their new ‘parent’.
Never being any good at earning a decent income off my skills as a writer, a new cult seemed the perfect solution to earn endlessly. I remember thinking to myself, “Well, if some half good fiction writer could lead thousands, I could settle for a hundred or so.”
Writing the Guide was the easy part, keeping my brood was a little harder. Not being caught out, well, mass suicide takes some planning.
Lol,grim. ‘Those who can’t, lead cults.’
Very timely, reminding me of the famous writer who founded a cult-like religion. Good one.
