Glass Bottle

Glass Bottle

By Phynne Belle

The misty sea green bottle stood on my vanity collecting thoughts and memories to dispense when needed. Yesterday I picked it up and lavished myself with its contents—remnants of a now decrepit past. When will I get past the cloying stench of my remorse? Of dreams smothered in mid-birth? I’ve become the essence, contained, not allowed release. I am the essence, carelessly dispensed, no longer good to anyone, not even myself.

A brave soul would have swept her arm cleanly over the cobwebs and curio and dashed this past into a million, brilliant lost selves. I am not this soul.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

This seems to me like the beginning of awareness for this lost soul.
