Glassblower

By Krystyna Fedosejevs

I’ve met mother’s friend.

The one who inspired her to smile when he intertwined colors into glowing works of art. The one who kissed her when he presented finished pieces and she approved.

Without her patronage his reputation would’ve fallen. His career rendered worthless.

Father didn’t know of him. Nor did he realize it was another who was responsible for his wife’s contentment. He acknowledged her ongoing absences as work-related.

I unpacked a box from my parents’ estate. Onto the mantelpiece I placed an exquisite vase, created by the man who shaped beauty before mother’s eyes. The man I called ‘Dad’.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
