Iced crown gleaming valiantly, her enigmatic beauty transcends egocentricity. She is coldly indifferent to the scarring reverence of vainglorious fools and might yet show benevolence—if she were only shown some courtesy.
But she never is.
She grows weary of the constant attempts to break her spirit but will stand resolute and omnipotent until her dying day. Until their dying day too. Long after the haunting songs of halyard flags have been silenced, long after the Day-Glo-hued queues have disappeared.
Soft sighs from those forgotten, frozen bodies lying in her flowing white petticoats, whisper, “Eve, rest,” in perpetuity.
She never can.
