The bed was empty.
“He’s with that girl again!”
She called him. No answer.
She stomped into the kitchen for a strong coffee. The hot liquid splashed on her quivering hand.
After the steamy drink stoked her, she called again. No response.
“Fine,” she yelled to the air. “But don’t think you will get another chance.”
She stormed across the room, grabbed her purse, and crashed the door closed behind her.
At lunch, she wondered if he’d come back.
She drove home, chest fluttering.
At the door, he posed handsome and cocky. She could not resist him.
His tail wagged, woof.
I had expected some downer of an ending. Instead you made me laugh! Wonderful, uplifting piece of writing.
Nice surprise ending!
Perfect setup! Your writing has a nice style that creates expectations and delivers suprises. Keep up the good work.
you got me! what a nice surprise. I can relate, my dog ran away a lot.
This is great! I like your clear style of writing. You make it look so easy, when we know it isn’t.
Great, opposite of a shaggy dog, story! Jerry
Cute and charming story.
Ending caught me completely by surprise. Excellent job, Jenny!
Perfect ending! Loved it!
Loved how you trick the reader with the phrase “she called him.” We go straight to “phone” when in fact, it’s the main character’s voice. We’re all ready to see her get mad at “him” but in fact she couldn’t! So fun. Well done!
NICE! Great surprise.
Love this
