“Don’t call me madam; it makes me feel like I’m running a brothel.”
The way the woman—a LinkedIn connection—reacted to my friendly “Good morning, madam,” was unexpected and embarrassing.
Right from the start, she was constantly messaging me. She wanted to talk about a job. I wasn’t looking for one, but I still agreed to a meeting.
Then came the call with this awkward moment and her attempt to cow me.
It shook me.
But I wouldn’t let her intimidate me. I wouldn’t play mind games.
“I think we’re done here. Good day, madam,” I said, before hanging up.
Sounds real and true.
Wow. That takes guts to write.
There’s nothing wrong with calling a lady “madam.” It’s a pretty respectful way to refer to women.
Witty and fun. Well done.
I would’ve said: Good riddance, madam.
Very nasty of the “Madam”
