The room was small with toys scattered on the floor. A little girl named Annie was in bed. Mommy tucked her in. Annie tried to keep her eyes open. She knew the monster would come soon. She didn’t feel good and couldn’t explain why.
Annie looked under her bed and saw the harmless corpse of a man. She checked her closet and said goodnight to the ghost inside. She waved to the clown in her mirror, who gave a friendly smile. Annie felt tired and went to sleep.
Then the monster creeped inside; he had been waiting. Daddy was his name.
It begins like a children’s story, but the end is petrifying. I think the end has such impact because, unfortunately, it speaks out the truth.
Great unexpected ending! ?
Wow. TRUE monster story! Shilling ending.
Disturbing. So very effective writing.
