After my wife did the crazy bitch boogie out of town with the liquor salesman, the first thing Grandpa Dub did was call up the wholesaler and triple the weekly order, including some expensive tequila we don’t even carry.
“But why?” I sobbed. “After what he’s done!”
“Boy, that’s the second of his sons has run off with a married woman. I’ll leave you here and take your keys tonight because I can’t stand to hear a fool crying. Just don’t burn the place down. We ain’t doing that til all that liquor’s sold and that invoice is way past due.”
I love the pace and punchiness of this story. So many relationships crammed into such a short space – it’s brilliant. Love it. Thank you.
