Hands

Hands

By Bobby Warner

Soft, gently moving. Intertwined, yet hardly touching. Youthful radiance full of life. These feelings belong to mother and child. How I love her, she thinks, with the sensation of motherly love welling up inside. Tiny eyes look about, curious but heedful of unexpected movement.

Moments become eternities, as mother strokes the new hair of child and feels movements of the tiny one she has brought forth.

What personifies the affection shown by both? Soft, gently moving hands that touch so briefly as though not to diminish the love they offer in the fingertips.

Mother-Child hands, touching…communicating what words cannot say.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

How beautiful and moving — and fitting, as we approach Mother’s Day.

I enjoyed this prose poem. It took me back to my own inexplicably beautiful moments of mother-child first love.
