Tommy Mebs came running up the street, covered head to toe in silver spray paint. His mother, Peggy, got out the garden hose and began to spray him down.
His father, Bill, came prancing out of the beige wood-sided house with a navy blue bandana tied around his neck, wearing a pair of tight cutoff jean shorts.
“Who did this to you?” Peggy shouted, while Tommy stood silent in their front yard, holding back tears.
“Your mother asked you a question,” Bill lisped.
“Everyone. All the boys in the neighborhood,” Tommy sobbed, soaking wet, clutching at the ends of his shorts.
I could only see Bill as Tobias Funke, and the story as a missing scene from Arrested Development (which is very high praise, of course).
Either it’s a glaring typo by someone, or there is some very interesting imagery in that garden HOUSE Tommy Mebs’ mother is wielding to spray the boy down. The story itself overall is good, pointing out the consequences of bullying.
