Heartfelt

April 23, 2023 9 Comments

By Yogita

I watch my heart as they perform a coronary angiogram. The blue-dyed man courses through my arteries and suddenly stops as he notices an old scar. The one from childhood, from the trusted old family friend who gave me chocolates. He scowls and moves ahead. He frowns as he sees the deep wound given by my unfaithful sweetheart, and continues his journey, watching the shattered, broken pieces of my heart, marking every wretched memory. At one point, saddened, he stops. I panic. My secrets are no longer mine. But the dye-man can keep secrets. His report only mentions the 99% blockage.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
