Heat

July 26, 2017 11 Comments

By Anita Taylor

I turned my back on her and sighed.

She could be so stubborn, but that was one of the things I loved about her: her determination. But now her determination was bothering me more than usual.

I had to change the situation. I turned around, eyes widening.

She had taken off her clothes. Blonde hair loose, she looked like an angel dressed in a white sheet. Eyes glistened with tears.

Staring into those blues eyes, I managed a smile. She had forgiven me. For what, I could not remember. I just wanted to feel her skin. Hold her. And love her.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Vivid imagery. And interesting that she, not the narrator, changes the situation through forgiveness. Nicely done.
