Peter watched her turn into the snack aisle. Jayne Harris. The poor woman had no idea why she was about to run into him after such a long time.

Her husband wanted her dead. None the wiser, he’d contracted a rival for her affection.

Peter hadn’t seen Jayne since leaving college. His heart racing, he approached his old friend.

“Jayne.”

She turned.

“Hey, Peter.”

Her smile felt electric. Then, Peter thought about the gun in his pocket. He swallowed.

“We need to talk.”

Jane looked bewildered. Peter managed a relaxed smile, his hands loose at his sides. No bloodshed this time.

You managed to develop 3 characters, cover past, present and future, and suggest a happy ending. Clever!
