Her eyes are dragon-like, green slits with an uncanny gaze. “Hi,” I whisper.
“Why are you whispering?” she asks. I’m staring at her lips, terrified that at any moment they’ll release a flame.
“You scare me sometimes.” I shake my head. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t—”
“Don’t apologize.” She laughs. “Well what about me scares you?” Her skin seems to be glinting, like a scale would.
I swallow again. “It’s your face.”
“My face?”
“Yeah. It’s really stupid, but sometimes I think you look like a dragon.” I glance down, just in time to watch her hand unfurl into a talon.
You met my wife! Nice story, well written.
Oh God… What? LOL
This is one with an ambiguous ending. Reminds me of Niedermann in The Millennium Trilogy lol
Well written and I dig that title.
Fantastic!!! This magnificent tale of a young man’s first visit to a prostitute sums up the whole experience perfectly. When he says “You scare me sometimes”, the “you” is a plural one, referring to all women. He can’t speak to them, can’t approach them, so he visits a brothel. Her hand unfurling into a talon is how it seems when her long-nailed fingers take him by the hand and bring him to one of the private bedrooms where his virginity will be lost in a whirlwind of fear, shame and eventually resentment. He sees her, all her kind, as a monster, but in the end, HE will be the monster. Bravo!!!
Very Awesome! Well Done Wyeth!
Write on, Wywy
