Holding On

By Tarx

It had to be a British astronaut to say, on his inaugural solar approach, “It’s hot, isn’t it?” and for his Australian colleague to wet her seat.

Later, on their slingshot return, Arthur whispered, “We’re all alone out here…”

“Indeed we are,” replied Alice, looking sideways, feigning gullibility.

“Not a soul for 93 million miles…”

“Hmm…”

They drifted through the black towards the pale blue dot some way ahead. In between carrying out tests, they held each other.

Back on Earth, their respective loved ones had to restrain them from touching the ceiling. It felt prudent not to ask them why.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Love is where you find it, even in the depths of outer space. Good story!
