My friend tells me he doesn’t have ADHD because he never chooses his next hyperfixation. I give him a blank look.
Does he think I get the choice of what catches my attention next? My attention becomes hooked by chance, by a glance in the right direction at the right time.
The conversation moves on with a laugh, but when everyone goes home I sit quietly.
My brain works in mysterious ways to most. Things popular to my friends cause me pain to watch, but things I love, I love with everything in me.
Maybe I’m the one who’s built wrong.
