Stalactites drip onto the deck with a maddening rhythm and the ice locking our ship in place creaks like something living: a creature in pain.
Despair grows. Tensions spark and arguments escalate. Friendships unravel. The cold sets in.
Some have already succumbed to hunger, while others lost themselves in madness.
We have no way to dispose of the bodies so we pile them in a corner and try not to look. At least the cold keeps away the smell.
As the bleak, white days pass, we find ourselves glancing at the mound of bodies, the frozen meat becoming ever more appealing.
Sets the scene perfectly, nice work!
Not a pleasant subject but the writing pulled it off. Good job.
Very suspenseful…leads inexorably toward an inevitable end. Good job, Kelly.
Wow, you really set the scene here. Very powerful!!
