Ignored

January 30, 2022 14 Comments

By Bryan van Gorder

I stood outside her door for what felt like hours and called to her, yet she refused to let me in.

I seethed. My anger bubbled over as the world and everything in it turned blood red. I would need to teach her a lesson.

The events that followed happened in a blur—the broken glass, the ransacked house, her things destroyed. But when I heard the door open, I knew I’d won and crawled into bed next to her.

I’ll forgive her—for now—but a hairball vomited in her shoe tomorrow morning will tell her nothing has been forgotten.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Very good. Cats look as if butter wouldn’t melt but what thoughts go through their minds?
