Jack leans forward and presses his lips gently against Stacey’s while his wife, Flaurance, tends to their newborn in the adjacent room.
“Can you believe he just did that!” Lucy exclaims, pausing the soap opera.
“I mean, that poor woman just gave birth to his offspring!”
Lucy looks at the space next to her on the sofa, seeking Clair’s opinion of Jack’s distasteful dalliance. She stares at the indents on the cushion where Clair used to sit. Sighing loudly and pinching her nose, she pushes play on the remote. It’s been three months since Clair passed away, and Lucy sometimes forgets.
So sad but realistic.
An unexpected twist in the tale. Very well told.
Enjoyed this poignant story. Well done.
Deeply felt emotions move the words go deeper into the reader’s heart. Impressive.
