It Was Beautiful

It Was Beautiful

By Gary Davison

Fluffing his feathers he took off, flakes swirled, soaring upward. Following this well-traveled path, his wings cut through the air with long, steady strokes.

Banking right, he flew due south, racing the gathering storm. Clusters of icy snowflakes slowed his pace.

He scanned the snow-patched ground, and there, off in the distance, a familiar view.

Beyond the blue ribbon of river, just over the trees…he was almost there.

Crouched beneath the treetops, a camouflaged man heard a goose honking. A lone gander approached—tracking it, he sprang up, aimed, and fired a ten-shot burst with his camera.

It was beautiful.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
