The pot was boiling on the campfire. The old man slowly stirred its contents.
“Boy,” he said, without looking at me, “you came from afar?”
“Five days south,” I replied as I emerged from the shadows.
“That’s a long way. How are things going?” the old man asked, serving me a bowl of stew.
“Everyone’s dead,” I replied.
The old man nodded.
“Do you have it too?” he asked bluntly.
“I’m immune,” I said, feeling the guilt swarming over me.
A blow from behind knocked me almost senseless to the ground.
“Finally,” the old man giggled. “Boys, we found our antibodies!”
Good one! That was different.
That’s a good one !! Didn’t see it coming !!
Great pairing of a quick pace with an unexpected ending.
Unexpected twist to atmospheric tale. Great!
An unexpected turn of events. I immediately thought of the zombie apocalypse!
Wow very reminiscent of The Last of Us… nice job!
Someone is stirring more than the stew! Thanks.
Whoa! Our scary future?
