Joys

By Rich Calo

A young man with a beautiful imagination decided to rewrite the sorrows of the world and turn them into joys. He sat and wrote, his back against a young oak.

But there was so much sorrow in the world that he never moved again, and the tree grew, and grew, and swallowed him in its trunk.

The oak is ancient now.

In the fall when its leaves come down, the November winds carry them to the far ends of the earth, each a tale of joy that finds its way into the hands of the one whose heart needs it most.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

When the breeze picks up the leaves from our oak trees, I will think of your story. Beautiful.
