Halfway up the cliff, I knew I had to jump. I peered down at the shallow river below and spied my girlfriend, Cindy, flirting with our rafting guide. No doubt Cindy thought the brawny river rat was more macho than me but wait until she saw me splash. Beat that, River Rat. Of course, I might break my legs or drown.
I squeezed my eyes shut, leaped into space, and plunged. An eternity later, I surfaced without my sunglasses and hat. “Did you see me jump, Baby?”
Cindy shrugged. “Sorry, I missed it. But why would you do something so stupid?”
The things we do for love. My advice, retrieve your sunglasses and hat and make good your escape!
The only thing to improve the story is that she was mad because the splash got her wet. Great story. So true of my teenage years.
