He twisted through the endless darkened maze of the catacombs. The steady drip of life seeping down from the city overhead echoed through the tombs, in corners filled with empty-eyed skulls.
He no longer knew what sunlight looked like. His eyes opened wide to stare into the inky blackness. He slumbered on broken bones as the hunger chased him into a dreamless sleep.
“Hello?” A voice rang out through the skeletal passageways. Light—warm and bright—spilled across his feet. A stranger and a torch appeared in his haunting grounds.
Just my luck—another meal, he thought with a fang-tipped smile.
